Destination Green wanted to develop a product to showcase their newest bio composite material. The material looks like wood, but is easier to maintain, better for the environment and recyclable. At the same time, many Dutch cities are trying to get more plants into the city to fight the Urban Heat island effect. However, development is slow, leaving many empty lots of concrete. Already existent temporary green solutions are limited and uninspired.
Urban Oasis is a temporary green solution that can be rented by municipalities. It provides natural shade and the visitor is fully surrounded by nature, creating a green escape between the concrete. It is inspired after the principles of Biophelic design. After the renting period, the Oasis can be broken down easily and put in a new location
