3 day case - Cases on tour
For this short case, Ravensburger wanted to create a tablet without a screen and internet connection for children, some requirements were included:
The toy has to have multiple functionalities/games.
It has to be interesting for children age 4-8.
It should include some form of character collecting, allowing for parents to buy expansions.
The game has to be just as engaging as a regular tablet.
The Rtablet uses scene cards that can be inserted and guide figurines that can be collected. The tablet can light up seperate sections of the card, revealing the character hidden behind the scene. The child can practise searching characters in the scene using the guide figurine. It contains a NFC chip that can be detected by the tablet to determine the position of the guide. If the child points the guide in the right position, the character hidden in the scene will reveal itself. Another game on the tablet is aimed at teaching children about the different characters, lighting them up one by one. For both games, the information can change based on the level of the child.
Parents can buy expansion packs with extra guides and scene cards to enlarge the play time. The information for each scene card can be read from the NFC inside the card.
